BANGKOK – Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) revives consumer protection and insurance participation for driving under the influence of alcohol and urge to put cannabis on the list. According to OIC’s recent policy “Driving while intoxicated” The insurance not cover a person with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of more than 50mg is considered drunk under Thai law

However cannabis have a chance to place on the list that it will not only result in insurance claims being denied, but it also carries the risk of being fined and/or imprisoned in Thailand. The insurance company may say the driver is partially to blame for the crash. Especially if you used marijuana within 24 hours of the time of the crash. Moreso driver could face jail time and suspension of their license, in addition to fines and vehicle impoundment.

Even though cannabis has been legalized across the nation, drivers need to be cautious about getting behind the wheel while they are under the influence. Marijuana can impair reaction time and make drivers more likely to get into an accident.
