Harsh Regulation is Coming for Cannabis Industry
1 min readAccording to the news report, the Ministry of Public Health aims to delist cannabis flower (bud) to narcotic list and ban household cannabis cultivation.
Professor Rasamon Kanlayasiri, Director of Centre for Addiction Studies (CADS) stated that CADS agree to reschedule cannabis to drug list as well as looking forward to have stricter regulation and prohibit recreational use.
“Thailand should announces to move some part of the plant back into a narcotic list, the best method to control from its origin especially cannabis bud that contained high THC, But CADS not agree with reschedule all cannabis part as illegal substance” said Professor Rasamon Kanlayasiri
The royal gazette announced the new medical cannabis and related-product regulations by Thai Traditional Medicine Commission and the Thai Traditional Medicine Cannabis Service Control Regulations on September, 19, 2023
1.Cannabis provider, service and businesses must register with the Thai Traditional Medicine Commission and get licences in compliance with the laws and its procedures.
2.Cannabis consumer must be registered with a marijuana service centre which under Council of Thai Traditional Medicine as a regulator who governing policies and regulations
3.Any cannabis business must be provided under the control of personnel registered and licensed by the Thai Traditional Medical Commission, In accordance with the rules, procedures, and conditions stipulated or recognized by the Thai Traditional Medicine Commission.
