Cannabis Movement Submit a Letter to Prime Minister Demanding Recreational Consumption Rights

Thailand Cannabis Association submitted a letter to Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin demanding rights for recreational cannabis consumption as it will be delivered to the Prime Minister’s Office by the Permanent Secretary, Furthermore the cannabis movement and many pot activists will organize a big protest this evening at Khaosan road 6.00 P.M. onward

Thailand Cannabis Association has raised 4 demands, including  1. Oppose reclassifying cannabis as a narcotic. 2. Include content in the Controlled Recreation Act. 3. Keep the medicinal control model and recreation distinct, and 4. Avoid monopolizing marijuana concessions.

However, Thailand Cannabis Association also requesting the government to revise the draft bill especially recreational cannabis is must not a non-criminal offense and should considered as a primary human’s right to consume it as well as demanding a proper control law such as limit location, sales period and age restriction.

Thailand Cannabis Association also mentioned the suggestion that the government should be strict on the prevention of cannabis in youth, alongside educating the public on the benefits of cannabis and supporting relevant research. Because several studies have shown that marijuana is not the primary cause of crime and recreational marijuana consumption does not increase the rate of crime or violence. On the other hand, opening up recreational marijuana also boosts the economy and tourism sector, as well as the effective medical treatment that has become internationally recognized.
